The walk between Porthcothan Beach and Trevose Head Lighthouse gave us quite a challenging, but very enjoyable hike. We picked an amazing day for the weather and the sea was pumping. I have explored the section between Porthcothan and Treyarnon bay meticulously whilst shore fishing, but on this day we intended on covering ground to get to the lighthouse and back. The views across the sands on approach to Constantine bay and Booby's bay are breathtakingly beautiful, with the whole stretch of coastline facing westward, we also intend on catching some of the best sunsets in Cornwall in summer. Hiking up towards the lighthouse was hard going on the legs, we forgot to take a pack lunch and so we were low on energy when we got there but was worth the slog up the headland to the lighthouse. Looking back towards Porthcothan and further on towards Newquay, the water was lit up by the sun with spectacular rugged rocks cutting into the water along the coast. There is a National Trust car park at the top near the lighthouse, great for driving up and catching the sunsets.
